"STREETS"
Photo compositions by
PHIL STEIN

A few themes in contemporary culture are the use of multiple imagery, visual and musical sampling, multitasking, constant interruption, and immediacy of change. This work is an interpretation of these common aspects of our experience.

Phil Stein is a Photographer, although his work is more than just pure photography. Using printed copies of his own digital images he goes on to create compositions, combinations of the scene, mounted on rag board, wood and Plexiglas.

Escuela de Seduccion
Directed by Javier Balager with Victoria Abril

South Florida's Premier Weekly Cultural Event Series

On Wednesday October 17th Culture in the City, Red Chemistry & Damien B. Contemporary Art Center present "Escuela de Seduccion" Directed by Javier Balager with Victoria Abril.
at Damien B. Contemporary Art Center, 282 NW 36th St. (305) 573-4949.

Suggested donation of $7. Either before (if you arrive early) or afterwards, you can check out the exhibition. Film at 7:30 pm

Victoria Abril is probably one of the best actresses in Spanish cinema, and has provided plenty of unforgettable performances in the past ("Amantes", "Nadie hablará de nosotras cuando hayamos muerto" or "Átame", to name just a few), but lately she seems to like independent projects. "Escuela de Seduccion" is a fun movie, full of humor and a practicle lesson about love. Oscar (Javier Veiga) is a young and bright salesman who loses his job. His knowledge of women leads him to compete with Sandra Vega, a very feminist and successful therapist who is running a radio show.

I love my box

Damien B. Contemporary Art Center is announcing the unveiling of a special series of exhibits. “I Love My Box” have been premiered on November 11th 2006 7:00pm for the Wynwood Art District Gallery Walk. The artists that are showing their works are m lafille (video, first US exhibition), Jon Davis and Reeve Schumacher

These works are viewed in experimental spaces with pieces also being shown in the main gallery. These experimental spaces will be given for a limited period of time to different artists for an ongoing series of exhibits. These new spaces allow an environment that will enable the artists to exhibit a more personal representation of their work.

The idea came about through the concept of what defines our space(s) and what we do to mark them as ‘our own’. These platforms of exhibition enable the artists to exhibit a more personal extension of their work.
