José Pacheco Silva studied at Pratt Institute in New York City and the Uni ver sity of New York College at Buffalo .

Born in Colombia , he has lived in the United States since 1972. His work was selected by the Boca Raton Museum of Art for the 54Tth ANNUAL All Florida Juried Competition And Exhibition 2005 and the juried HORTT 2000 exhibition at the Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Art. He has exhibited in Miami and New York City at MOCHA ( Museum of Contemporary Hispanic Art ). He recently completed a commission for the new Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach and received an Honorable Mention for an exhibition sponsored by ArteCité 2005, curated by Suzanne Delehanty, Director of the Miami Art Museum . Pacheco Silva currently holds a studio residency at the South Florida Art Center , Miami Beach .

His most current series of work consists of color photographs of small figurines set in different backgrounds or environments. The use of circular framing within a square format creates a voyeuristic feeling, one that evokes pensive solitude. It is as if the spectator is witnessing a parallel world, fl oating in a primal universe.

A similar reaction is evoked by accompanying wire sculptures that belong to this same recent series. Delicate wires jut out of the wall and are shaped into landscapes or settings within which are placed the same tiny fi gures that occupy the photographs. The photographs and wire assemblages create a dialogue and invite the viewer to explore further the atmospheres and emotions created by these works.
