Marcus Antonius Jansen had his first exhibition in 1974 at New York City's Park Avenue Lever House at age six. He was awarded his place in Who's Who in American Art and Who's Who in International Art alongside some of the most noteworthy men and women in today's art world.

Jansen has work in the Smithsonian Institution and has been exhibited widely including the 12th International Print & Drawing Biennial in Taiwan, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Art, Juror included David Kiehl, Whitney Museum of Art, the Tampa Museum of Art under/CURRENT/over/VIEW 8, Annual, curator Jeffrey Grove, High Museum Atlanta.and recently the International 8th. Contemporary Art Biennale "Dialogues", curator Larisa Golubeva, Exhibition Hall Manege St. Petersburg.

Jansen is a Gulf War Veteran and former Sergeant who over the last decade managed to transform his life from a soldier at War to becoming a catalyst behind "Modern Expressionism". This according to art historian Jerome A. Donson who discoverd Jansens work in 2003. Donson directed shows at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) arranging traveling exhibitions for some of Americas greatest action painters such as Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Oskar Kokoshka and Franz Kline.
"I told him I believed he was the originator of a new movement which I called “Urban Expressionism” and that I believed that there will be many followers in this new style. But there will only be one Marcus Jansen" says Donson.

In 1997, after Jansens Military discharge, he decided to follow his calling highlighting issues of social truth's, culture, identity and isolation in todays "Prairies of Stone". He has since coined his work with the term "Modern Urban-Expressionism" that redefines the traditional landscape. Educated in Europe and the United States, Jansen grew up speaking English, German and conversational Dutch.

He has traveled extensively throughout Western and Eastern Europe and lived in places such as SW and SE Asia. Jansen resided in New York City and Germany as a child were movements of Expressionism, Abstract Expressionism and Graffiti Art had their roots. He started painting in 1982 after meeting Graffiti art legend "WESTONE” in Manhattan, who became his mentor. Jansen was recently awarded the Angel of the Arts Award in the category New Artist of the Year by the Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers Florida.
